Calm, Clear: eyelash extension volume lashes + What to Expect at Your Consultation For Brows
By Mai’s Beauti | August 25, 2026
My office is clean and comfortable, and I’m quick to respond if you text me questions before your visit. If you’re nervous about booking permanent makeup, that’s normal. Most first-timers aren’t worried about the pain as much as they’re worried about the unknown: “Will they listen to me?” “Will it look too dark?” “What if I don’t recognize myself?” A Consultation For Brows is the calm, planning-focused step that takes all of that pressure down. In 30 minutes, I map and shape, talk color and technique, go over health and skin details that matter, and leave you with a clear plan and estimate. No mystery, no rushing.
Answer-first: A Consultation For Brows is a planning visit where I review your medical history, map and shape your brows, discuss pigment and technique, and write out a treatment plan and cost estimate. Often, we schedule the permanent makeup procedure for a separate appointment. Bring a few reference photos and a list of medications.
I’m located in Downtown Walnut Creek, Suite 206, right off the North Main Street corridor near Broadway Plaza and Civic Park. If you’ve been searching “permanent makeup near me” or “brows touch up near me, ” I want you to feel confident before you commit, especially if you’re balancing work, kids, and a calendar that’s already full.
Before your 30-minute brow consult: 6 things that make it smoother
You don’t need to “prep perfectly.” You just need to show up in a way that lets me see your real brow situation and understand your goals. Here’s what helps most.
- Come with clean, makeup-free brows so I can map shape and symmetry without guessing what’s pencil and what’s hair.
- Bring 3 reference photos, even if they’re screenshots. I’ll use them to translate “natural” into something specific: thickness, softness, and the front of the brow.
- Bring a medication list, especially blood thinners and skin meds.
- Tell me about skin treatments like retinol use, isotretinoin, peels, or recent facial procedures. These can affect timing and eligibility for permanent makeup.
- Be honest about old work. Old microblading, a tattooed brow, or faded pigment changes the plan. Cover-ups are possible, but they need the right strategy.
- Arrive with your questions written down. I welcome questions. I’d rather you ask everything now than worry at home later.
Local tip: If you’re coming from Pleasant Hill, Concord, Lafayette, Orinda, Rossmoor, or Clayton, Downtown Walnut Creek is easy for quick consults. BART and highway access make it realistic to stop in without turning it into an all-day thing.
When you arrive: mapping, technique talk, and a plan you can actually picture
A lot of people walk in thinking a consult is just a quick chat. Mine is hands-on planning. I’ll start by asking what you like and what you’re tired of, like thin spots, uneven fronts, or a tail that disappears in photos. Then I take a close look at your natural brow hair direction and your facial balance, because the goal is a brow that fits your face, not a copy-paste shape.
Step 1: Medical history and skin check, in plain language
I’ll ask about allergies, medications, and skin treatments. I’ll also ask about recent cosmetic services around the brow area. These details matter for safety and for results. If anything means we should delay the procedure date, I’ll tell you straight.
Step 2: Brow mapping and shape approval
This is the part people end up loving. I draft your brow shape before any tool touches your skin. You’ll see the outline, we’ll adjust together, and I won’t move forward until you’re genuinely happy with the design. Clients often tell me they felt cared for because I took my time and never made them feel rushed.
Step 3: Picking the technique that matches your goal
We’ll talk through options like nano brows (also called nano hairstrokes), microblading, ombré shading, and combo brows. If you want a softer look, shading can be the right choice. If you want hairlike detail, nano strokes can be a great fit. If you have older pigment that needs blending or cover-up, combo brows may give you the balance of structure and softness. I’ll recommend what I think will look best for your features, and I’ll also tell you if something you’re requesting won’t be flattering.
“She is very knowledgeable and patient and kind. Her precision and attention to detail on my eyebrows were truly appreciated.”

After the consult: your timeline, brows touchup, and August healing reality
At the end of your consultation, you’ll have a timeline you can plan around: consult now, procedure date next (if we schedule it), then a brows touchup appointment about 6 to 8 weeks later. That touch-up is where we refine. It’s normal for pigment to settle and soften as your skin heals, so the follow-up is part of getting the finished look.
I’ll also go over aftercare expectations so you’re not surprised. I typically send people home with clear instructions, and I’m available if questions pop up during healing. Several clients have mentioned that check-ins made them feel supported, especially when it was their first permanent makeup experience.
August note: Summer heat changes your schedule. Around your procedure date, plan to avoid heavy sweating and strong sun or UV exposure while you’re healing. If you have a beach weekend, a hot yoga phase, or lots of outdoor events coming up, tell me. I’ll help you pick timing that protects your results.
And yes, you can absolutely combine beauty goals. A lot of my brow clients also come back for lashes near me searches, lash extensions near me, or a lashes lift. If you’re thinking about volume lashes or perm lash services later, the consult is still the right first step for your brows.
A few “insider” questions I’m happy to answer, plus my Downtown Walnut Creek tip
If you’ve been burned by bad microblading or you’re worried about going too bold, ask me this at your consultation: “What will this look like healed, not just day one?” That question keeps the goal realistic. It also helps me guide you toward the right combo of technique and color so you don’t end up with brows that feel heavy on your face.
Another good one is: “How do you handle old pigment or uneven growth?” I’ve worked with clients who had old tattoo issues, and the plan matters. I’d rather take the extra time up front than have you spend years trying to cover something every morning.
If you’re making a day of it, my Suite 206 location in Downtown Walnut Creek sits right by the North Main Street corridor, close to Broadway Plaza and Civic Park. You can schedule your consult before shopping or an event, then leave with a clear plan instead of a dozen unanswered questions.
If you want to go deeper on results and why the consult matters, read benefits of Consultation For Brows. When you’re ready, book your 30-minute Consultation For Brows, bring your three photos, and tell me what “natural” means to you. I’ll do the rest.
